Spiritual Wellness

I’d like to share a truth that God has revealed; I have come to see the blessings of applying scripture. I have come to name it David’s 12 Step Program. This is part of a Bible Study we did years back, but it is such a great teaching that as we go through the steps, God has it all planned out. We just have to follow His lead!

Ps 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want…Jehovah-Rohi is His name and He will sustain us and provide for all of our needs. He makes me to lie down in green pastures…He leads me besides the still waters. The Lord loves to get us in a calm place of rest to rest besides still waters which is the opposite of rushing rapids. In that calmness of comfort of the green …pastures and quietness…we are removed from our daily busyness and can relax with Him…He is there, it says He makes us and He leads us there. He is taking care of our spiritual needs! Today, our green pastures and still waters can be a room to ourselves, a moment in the car, or a walk in the park. Know this, He loves us, He desires to be alone with us in a calm and restful place, He also desires to love on us and fulfill our needs. Don’t resist the calling to go to a quiet place…you  So if we follow to the still waters looks what is next…

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

He restores my soul…He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name sake. To restore in the Greek means He is repairing, refreshing, turning us back to Himself. We can get so busy with life that it leads us away… from the very one that actually gives us life! The Lord desires this time to transform us, to bring us back to Himself…this is how He leads us in the paths of righteousness or what is right or just. He does this for His name sake? Huh? (Some of us may be thinking?) It is because we bear His name, we reflect His glory, we are His ambassadors and it is important that we represent Him as He is, not as we are. He wants the world to see that we are His. So, He needs the time with us to do what only He can do! Who doesn’t want their soul restored, repaired, or refreshed?! Trust in His leading…go ahead rest in Him! You are positioned by God and highly favored!!!

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Yes thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death- That is, when we walk through those deepest darkest moments in our life where we feel all alone, when the dark is the darkest and the feeling of giving up is upon us or come into our trials, uncomfortable circumstances, illogical places or think on the worst case scenario…WE WILL NOT FEAR EVIL. We will not let misery, distress, wrong doings, adversity or calamity overtake us…BECAUSE….God is with us…His rod and staff (He supports with everything we need because He is the Shepherd…Jehovah Rohi) they comfort, protect, console, has compassion for, the rod and staff ease our minds and our hearts. How can we be fully persuaded this will happen when we find ourselves on the edge of a valley…by spending that quiet, intimate time learning who He is and what He has for you. Remember, He just restored, repaired, and refreshed our soul…it is time to ARISE and walk in that authority! YOU ARE POSITIONED BY GOD AND HIGHLY FAVORED!

5 Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies, He anoints my head with oil, my cup runs to the overflow. After we have trusted, rested, and overcome our fears God then says, “Well done!” When we walk in our authority we bless Him, because we demonstrate we have believed Him and utilized all that He has given us. So, He prepares a banquet of honor in front of those who have… caused us distress or harassed us. We find courage to sit before our enemies; they do not intimidate us any longer.  Then He anoints our head with oil…He blesses us with our inheritance to the excess and prosperity as in the Greek puts it. Those blessings saturate us, they are never ending, the overflow in abundance. Know this, God always has a remarkable way for double blessing us in our obedience. It always benefits us and then blesses us. It is good to be a child of God! You are positioned by God and Highly Favored!

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life and you shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Surely or most definitely the goodness of His benefits for your welfare, and mercy or His faithfulness will follow you all the days of your life and you shall dwell, remain and abide in the house of the Lord forever. A few small things …to resolve in our hearts…trust…rest…authority…obedience will bring benefits and blessings. Lots to think about…the question is…Who doesn’t want this life? So what are we waiting for? Seek first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you! Life just seemed to get a little better, don’t you think!?You are positioned by God and highly favored!!!

May scriptures always bless us and always direct us, may they be the lamp unto our feet. May David’s 12 Step Program be our guide for a life of obedience worth pleasing to HIM!

Jer 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. Learning how to obey the voice of the Lord and not the many outside voices that interfere with your direct instruction from the HIM.   Joh 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Becoming a Whole Hearted Woman is a goal set for us by God Himself.

Our model for Spiritual Wellness comes from Mark 12:30 ”And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.”
