To please God or not please God?

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:1-2 KJV)

1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. 3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.

5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.

9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

12 Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. 13 For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.

15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. 17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. (NLT)

Simply speaking, this morning many of us may have been deceived to think that we can be IN Christ and still follow through with sin. The above Scriptures are clear; when you are IN Christ or belong to Him, the life giving power of the Spirit has set us free from the power of sin that leads to death. Which means, the moment we become a born again believer, the Spirit of God takes up residence in us. Here are a few things that happen in an instant; 1. We are awakened to our deliverance and we are aware of our freedom, 2. We now see things very differently, a little more clearly than before, 3. Certain sin natures fall off IMMEDIATELY, while others that may be deeper we struggle with and God trains us to engage in using our power over them. The key here is that we war against it, because it no longer has place within us because the Spirit of God is now present. (my personal witness).

The Scriptures are clear; we cannot please God if we are still under our sinful nature. He wants us to know you are controlled by the Spirit of God if the Spirit of God is living in you. Look at this; those who do not have the Spirit of God living in them do not belong to him at all. He then pleads; we are under no obligation to what our sinful nature urges us to do, IF we live by its dictates we will die. In order not to be condemned the Scriptures said above; to those who are IN Christ Jesus and walk NOT after the flesh.

Folks, think about it…does a Holy God who hates sin really deliver us from sin only so we can continue in sin and demonstrate the only change is we proclaim we are going to heaven?!!! I think we have missed the boat on this concept. I think we have caved into a tolerance for sin, allowing people to “think” because they have said a prayer that they are “in” and it’s all without accountability. He continues to say, if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. Those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.

If we love one another, we will start to realize some around us do not demonstrate the power of the Spirit and they are forever in their sin. Brothers and sisters, this should not be! This is not judging, it loves…because there is an end to a man and the Scriptures are clear, those who continue in their sin will die. There is a great price to help others see it is truly about being IN Christ and the price is eternal life. Eternal life starts here on earth. If one who claims to be a brother or sister and does not have the convictions of righteousness, who is obligated to their sinful nature…is it not love that helps them to see the error of their way? Yesterdays Scriptures, we do error not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. The power of God not only delivers us from the pit of hell, but transforms us to be fit for the Kingdom of Heaven. They go hand in hand.

God says, those who love me will keep my commandments. If we love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength…we will hate sin…we will use our strength and power to combat it because it does not please God. We desire to please God because He first loved us and gave His life for us. We had an expected end of eternal punishment and now with Glory and Honor we praise Him for delivering us and empowering us to live a life that pleases Him with the expectant end of eternal life in His presence!

If you are reading this, and something isn’t settled in the depth of your soul…please email me or find someone you see the fruit of God clearly in and share this with them. This is not meant to scare you, it is not meant to judge you, it is not meant to be mean… it is meant that if someway someone may have misunderstood the truth, that today is the day of salvation! It is important to know it has to be God’s way and not ours. We cannot rewrite the plan…it is written clearly for us here and we cannot ignore it.

It is good for all of us to examine ourselves, sharpen iron with one another, and encourage one another Today so our hearts will not be hardened. At the end of the day, is our live reflecting the power of the Spirit? Are we pleasing God in what we say and do? Do we believe that we are joint-heirs with Jesus Christ and we can call our God Daddy? Are we being led by the Spirit of God or our flesh? May God open the eyes of our hearts and draw us all closer to Himself today!

With much love for the brethren~
