Fasting and Prayer for Marriages

Fasting and Prayer for marriagesPraying and fasting…(to the churches everywhere here and abroad….greetings)….

that God would help us change our false pretenses of what a “godly” marriage should look like and be true to the Word of God and the Holy Spirit’s leading and teaching. Many of us have fallen prey to expectations of what our spouses and marriages should “look” like…setting us up for disappointment when after years they are no where near the mark. Maybe this expectation came from pre-maritial counseling where we may have been told…this is  your part…this is their part…good luck and go do it (summing up the suggestion that we have been given strait scripture without application, mentorship, and UNDERSTANDING. When our expectations are not met…it leads to disappointment…which leads to judgement and a critical spirit…to punishing. All the while a good desire to have…but once it rolls from a desire to expectation we have just created an idol. We seek to get something from someone…rather than God…we all have done it…we must reconized satans scheme to destroy us.

Marriage counseling usually starts in Eph 5:25…in reality we miss 5:15 Understand what the will of God is do not be drunk with wine, but be filled with the Spirit…I would guess we could be filled with alot of different things…what we put in is what we will get out…he tells us how to be filled…singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to one another and singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord…Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Submit yourselves one to another in the fear and reverence of God… Wonder why we struggle? Do we fear God? Wonder why things just dont seem to work? Still waiting for the “change” to take place in your spouse? May I ask…have we understood what the will of God is… to be filled with the Spirit…when we read, believe, and move out in obedience to singing one to another talking about the scriptures and thanking God for the ability to focus on JESUS rather than self or others…we start to submit to one another!

Who wouldnt gladly  submit to someone filled with the Holy Spirit…speaking and singing about Jesus…to be filled means to be completely engulfed with the Spirit…which means the fruit of the Spirit will flow naturally because we are now connected to the source which produces the beauty of the fruit in and through us. We ourselves cannot produce love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, longsuffering, gentleness, and self control.

Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Husbands and wives have lost the love for one another waiting for the other to become Eph 5. Yes wives are to submit to their OWN husbands…while husbands are to love their wives just as Christ loves the church. He gave up everything for her, he loved her more than himself, he put nothing before her and he did not allow a distraction to veer him off course from that action of love…he died for her. Work, sports, tv, phone, others, good things, hobbies…Jesus gives us his undivided attention constantly… We cannot live out New Testament exhortations without Jesus living in us and us living for Jesus first…you see it is in Jesus and Jesus in us that we are equipped to be obedient.

We can fast food for days and God can sustain us…the Bible tells us man shall not live by bread alone but every word that comes out of Gods mouth….yet we cannot fast God..reading our Bibles…praying…you will become weak in days, unrespondant, paralized, unable to think and be sharp of the things of God. We are finding more and more many are fasting…fasting from God relying on themselves to just get by in the hard times. May I ask…is this working for us? We must run to Jesus, cry out to Jesus, pray…know the Word and Promises…claim them and take all authority over the enemy. We are children of the Most High God…King of Kings…Lord of Lords…we have everything pertaining to live and godliness…why are so many failing, feeling defeated, dying to live rather living to die? We must be a people committed to constant communication with God in and for all things…if we are not, we are cutting off the Source that sustains us.

This isnt just for marriages, individuals everywhere claiming to be a follower of Jesus Christ. May we seek God and cry out to Him for our needs, our discernment and wisdom…may we allow Him to try our own hearts and prune away our sinful desires and the weight that so easily besets us so that we may reflect the Son, bear His image, and be a light in a dark world.

Praying for a REVIVAL for the hearts of God’s people be turned back to Him, a church-wide, nation wide repentance towards God and man, the ministry of reconciliation to be on the hearts of God’s people as this is His vision and mission.

Thank you for your desire to Glorify God and to fight against the enemy for the Body of Christ!

Just for the record our problem is not God…it is us.

With much love for the brethren from my heart~

sister Debbie
