Two Minute Testimony – “Thickets” from Vol. 3, Issue 2 “Bloom Where You Are Planted”

In Her Heart, Vol 3, Issue 2, Bloom Where You Are Planted

“Thickets” by Tricia Weeks

My husband and I moved into a home that had a scraggily lawn and was cursed with thickets. If you stepped on them they would pierce your skin and make you bleed. We worked relentlessly pulling, bagging and hauling away those nasty thickets. Yet much to our dismay the thickets quickly returned. We decided the thickets were here to stay, and concentrated on the scraggly lawn. We seeded, fertilized, watered and tended to the lawn. Soon, it grew green, thick and plush.  Then amazingly, the new lawn choked and killed the thickets!

The Lord had shown me through nature a great lesson. I could try to rid myself of my thickets (sin), but I was incapable of making myself worthy of salvation. Only through God’s precious gift of salvation could I be worthy. Then, He Himself would deal with my painful thickets. Spending time daily with Him, praying, and listening for His Voice has cleansed away my thickets (sin); I couldn’t, but He could!

Thank you Jesus, for making me white as snow and for thickets that don’t grow in snow.
