Two Minute Testimony – from Vol. 2, Issue 4 “God and Girlfriends”

In Her Heart, Vol. 2, Issue 4, God and Girlfriends

Fall 2009

Through the years I have seen friends come and go, some remained right by my side while others turned from me like we were never even acquaintances. I have seen God work each relationship out. Sometimes it wasn’t until years later that I realized why God had sent me in a certain direction, or why I had to go through the pain of losing some friends. He reveals things in His time, not ours. He has a plan that is way bigger than me. It took me a long time to understand that, and now I praise Him for each loss and each gain.

One day it all just made sense; if one of my friends at that time had not walked out of my life, I would not have met my husband, who years later led me in making the greatest decision ever, to receive Jesus as my personal Savior and Lord of my life! Some of the roller coaster relationships I was in and poor advice I took coupled with bad decisions on my part led me to becoming a teen parent, but God used it for good. I have been able to minister to pregnant teenagers and their parents. I have great relationships now with many women and God allows this for His glory and honor. I believe that God’s plan involves placing people in and out of our lives with a purpose for each relationship. I have one friend that God has blessed me with as a lifelong friend. God knows I need her friendship. We have walked life’s path in so many similar ways and as our lives change there is always something else we have in common.  I love having girlfriends! You can lean on them and they keep you sane.  They are great to enjoy some free time with and to share your thoughts with when you need a shoulder to lean on or someone to talk to. I have a great friend in Jesus, and yet He still blesses me with girlfriends. God is so good!
